Many Mumbai Indians fans are shocked by the unexpected announcement that Hardik Pandya will be leading the team going forward. AB de Villiers, a former cricket great from South Africa, appears to have a different opinion on the subject.
Regarding the captaincy change, AB de Villiers stated that although some would be pleased, others would be unhappy. He shared that he had read a post about MI losing a million followers because people were offended that Hardik had taken Rohit’s place. He does not, however, believe that MI made a poor choice.
There will be pleased individuals and sad people in relation to it. It appears that individuals have taken it personally that Hardik has replaced Rohit, as evidenced by a post that MI lost a million followers. But in my opinion, MI made the right choice,” ABD stated in a video posted to his YouTube page.
Considering how well Rohit Sharma led MI for a while, De Villiers thinks that Rohit might benefit from this change since he wants to focus on enjoying the game as India’s captain rather than worrying about the workload associated with the IPL.
“Rohit has led MI admirably as captain. However, he also serves as the captain of India, so it’s time for him to relax and enjoy the game rather than feeling the need to carry the load.”
According to De Villiers, Rohit Sharma may have deliberately chosen to concentrate more on his batting abilities. Because it’s the newest development, he therefore wants the MI supporters to embrace the new leadership choice with gusto.
“I think Rohit has deliberately chosen to concentrate more on his batting abilities after considering the workload. The news is that Hardik is the Mumbai Indians’ captain,” he continued.
This IPL, I hope they give Dewald Brevis more playing time. Rohit Sharma up top would be amazing: AB de Villiers
The legendary cricket player hopes Mumbai Indians supporters will give Hardik Pandya an equal opportunity. The South African icon still has optimism that Pandya would win the IPL trophy with another team in the future, despite his candid admission that Surykumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have been devoted supporters of the Mumbai Indians team throughout the years.
You could argue that Hardik moved on and Surya and Bumrah were more devoted to the brand, but now he’s back. The unfavorable response to the announcement shocked me. Give the guy an opportunity to return,” the former player for the RCB said.
“I believe that MI needs a few fast bowlers, if not more. Perhaps a spinner. That is the thing they intend to examine. Dewald Brevis deserves more playing time in this IPL, I hope. Speaking about the team’s requirements for the forthcoming IPL season, De Villiers said, “Up the order with Rohit Sharma would be absolutely fantastic.”
