The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is quickly approaching, and with the auction just around the corner and the 10 teams having finalized their releases and retentions, cricket fans may be in for yet another incredible season in what is arguably the biggest franchise cricket league in the world.
The two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders also declared their retention before the start of the season, demonstrating amazing faith in their experienced players.
Prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), the team declared that all-rounder Andre Russell would stay with them.
The 35-year-old expressed his gratitude to the franchise for continuing to believe in him as he prepared to take center stage for Kolkata once more. Additionally, he expressed his desire to create a mega-season in 2024, which may cause problems for his rivals.
“There has been a lot of discussion on my release and other related topics. What matters most, though, is that the franchise has faith in me. They are aware of my abilities and past actions. Russell told the Hindustan Times, “I really want to make sure we have a mega season next year.”
When I’m chosen, I’ll be prepared to go: Andre Russell
In addition, Russell discussed the possibility of a West Indies team returning for the 2024 T20 World Cup. According to Russell, he and head coach Darren Sammy have had some chats, and there’s a good chance he’ll represent his country in the event.
“Once chosen, I’ll be prepared to go. I have been in communication with the coach, Daren Sammy, so if he keeps his word, I will be prepared to play, Russell stated.
As co-hosts of the T20 World Cup, the West Indies will be eager to play well, and it will be intriguing to watch how the two-time champions cope.
