A number of seasoned players were re-entering the fold, and left-arm pacer Yash Dayal received his first-ever call-up to the Indian team, which was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) three days ago. The team will play Bangladesh in the opening Test of the series. One name, Shreyas Iyer, was absent from the list, though, and this led to a conversation by former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra on the batter’s immediate prospects in the Test arena.
Iyer’s performance from India’s 2022 visit of Bangladesh was emphasized by Chopra. But as he correctly pointed out, his subsequent performances have fallen short of expectations, which may have given him little hope of extending his red-ball career in the near future.
It is noteworthy that Shreyas Iyer played a crucial role in the final match when we defeated Bangladesh in that country.
His game-changing knock helped us win, but times have changed since then. In response to a query from one of the viewers of a recent video he posted to YouTube, Chopra said, “I don’t see any chances for Shreyas Iyer in Tests at the moment.”
The fact that Chopra restated Iyer’s claim that he could not think of three players from the present lineup who would not be included in the first Test further highlighted how far out of the running Iyer was.
It is also not possible for anyone present to participate in every match. The men that make up this team, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, and Sarfaraz. They won’t be able to make the starting eleven, in my opinion. So what role does Shreyas Iyer play in this? noted Chopra.
He must play the Ranji Trophy -Aakash Chopra on Ishan Kishan
Chopra also mentioned another player who has been absent from the game for some time, Ishan Kishan. He was very clear in saying that the wicketkeeper-batter’s sole hope of improving to rejoin the Indian team was to play and do well in the Ranji Trophy.
There are rumors that he wasn’t fit to play, therefore he didn’t. He participated in one or two games at Buchi Babu before stopping to play elsewhere. He is going to have to play Ranji Trophy. Fair enough, there are no other crickets left. Chopra said, “So go play in the Ranji Trophy and score runs, which he can do, he is a good player.”
Kishan’s achievements in the Indian Premier League and the domestic season should be more than enough to get him back into the Indian squad, according to Chopra, who went on to highlight Kishan’s abilities.
In ODIs, how many players have amassed a double century? He’s got two hundred. He is a competitive player. He’s become somewhat stuck. There will be a chance for him to return, but he had to go and stand behind in line. The number of runs he scores and the outcome of his domestic season will be intriguing to watch. I don’t believe that he has no further options. He will return after a successful IPL and domestic season, Chopra continued.

Even though Kishan and Iyer were not included on the BCCI’s retainership list earlier this year, Iyer has nevertheless worn the Indian jersey in three more games than Kishan. His team, the ODIs, was defeated by Sri Lanka in the island nation last month.
