In advance of the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is scheduled to start on November 22, Australian star batter Steve Smith talked about his bond with Virat Kohli. Notably, this will be Kohli’s seventh tour to Australia; in 13 games played there, he averaged 54.08 runs per game and amassed 1352 runs. He has seen great success in his own nation and will be looking to contribute significantly to the forthcoming five-match Test series.
Smith pointed out that Virat Kohli possesses the aggressiveness of Australia. He wants to dominate the opponent because he thinks the Indian cricket player is acting and thinking like an Australian. In addition, Smith expressed his excitement about playing Kohli in the impending Australian summer.
I think Virat Kohli is an Australian at heart and in behaviour
We get along great and occasionally exchange messages. He’s a fantastic player and a lovely guy overall. Thus, facing him once more this summer would be enjoyable, Smith stated in an interview with Star Sports.
The way he approaches the challenge and attempts to overcome the obstacles from the beginning to the end. He said, “I’d say he’s perhaps the most Australian of the Indian guys.

Smith Smith feels that there is no actual competition between him and Kohli, that I need to beat him, or anything of the sort. Notably, Smith, 35, became an opener following David Warner’s retirement from Test cricket; nevertheless, his form has declined ever since. He hasn’t been at his best except from his undefeated 91-run knock he had at Gabba during the second innings against the West Indies.
It’s uncertain at this time if Smith will start the forthcoming India series. He is not, however, focused on competing against Kohli; instead, he is focused on playing well and leading Australia to victory.

“It’s not like I really have to beat him or anything.” It simply comes down to playing, going out and trying to score as many runs as I can, and supporting the success of Australia. That’s the main idea, according to Smith.
