Following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, friends and family greeted captain Rohit Sharma with hugs and a triumphant salute. On July 4, the 37-year-old had a full schedule that included a meeting in Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later, the whole squad participated in historic festivities at Mumbai’s Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium.
When the festivities at Wankhede came to an end, Rohit left for his flat, where he was greeted with an enormous amount of love. Tilak Varma, a young child, attended the festivities in Rohit’s flat as well. Along with a few others, he mimicked Rohit’s unique gait that he displayed on June 29 in Barbados when he accepted the prestigious trophy. Later, he was raised by the attendees, who also gave him a garland as a welcome.

In the meantime, Rohit’s mother’s video went viral on social media. On the day of the festivities, his mother Poornima Sharma had a doctor’s appointment, but she cancelled it to attend the festivities at Wankhede. While media representatives were present to capture the momentous occasion, Poornima could be seen in the video kissing her infant on the cheeks and forehead.
Following the game, Rohit Sharma’s mother claimed she had never seen an environment like that and that she was overjoyed to see her son receive so much love.

“I never imagined that today would come.” He had been to see us prior to the World Cup and expressed his desire to end his T20I career following this. Just try to win, I urged. Even though I had a doctor’s appointment and wasn’t feeling well today, I came because I wanted to see this day, Poornima said to The Indian Express.
“I am unable to convey how happy I am. Take a look at the applause. This is a whole new atmosphere to me. He deserves all of the attention he is receiving due of his diligence and hard work. Today, I’m the happiest mommy ever,” she continued.
