Australia has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against South Africa after winning the second Test match on Thursday by beating South Africa by an innings and 182 runs.
The Proteas were 15/1 when play resumed on Day 4 of the match. Facing an aggressive bowling line-up from Australia, the Proteas eventually gave up and were bowled out for 204.
Earlier, Australia had established a commanding lead of 386 runs after declaring their first innings with a score of 575 for eight. Cameron Green achieved his maiden five-wicket haul when he helped knock South Africa out for 189 in their first innings.
As a result of Australia’s victory in the series, they have further established their dominance at the top of the points table for the ICC World Test Championship.
After Australia’s victory against South Africa in the second test, the following is the most recent version of the points table for the ICC World Test Championship:
Australia, which is captained by Pat Cummins and has a victory percentage of 78.57, is still in first place in the points table. If they win the third and final test against South Africa, they will have an opportunity to raise their victory percentage even more.
India is still in second place after their victory in the series against Bangladesh, which they won 2-0. In anticipation of a four-match Test series against Australia on home soil the following year, they currently have a victory percentage of 58.93%.
If India were to come out on top in three of those four games, they would have little problem qualifying for the final of the World Test Championship the following year.
Both Sri Lanka and South Africa have moved up one spot, as they currently hold the third and fourth spots, respectively, with victory percentages of 53.3 and 50, respectively.
Following their 3-0 victory over Pakistan, England are now in fifth place in the league. The team that Ben Stokes is captaining now has a win percentage of 46.97.
The West Indies are now in sixth place, behind them, with a victory percentage of 40.91.
Pakistan and New Zealand are currently competing against one another in the first Test of a two-match series being held in Karachi. Pakistan and New Zealand are now ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, with win percentages of 38.89 and 25.93.
Bangladesh is now in last place in the points table due to their dismal victory percentage of 11.11 percent.
