Former India batter Virender Sehwag has come forward to comment on the team’s performance as their losing streak persists. In addition, the 44-year-old believed that DC’s head coach Ricky Ponting should also be held accountable for the team’s dismal performances.

“I believe I previously stated that Punjab had transmitted the axe to Delhi, and now the axe has arrived in Delhi. When a team triumphs, credit is given to the coaches, so when it loses, they should be held accountable. Even we have stated numerous times that Ponting has done an outstanding job and led them to the finals; they now qualify for the semifinals nearly every year. In a discussion on Cricbuzz, Sehwag stated, “He must now take credit for this achievement as well.”

Moreover, Sehwag stated that the coaching staff of the various IPL franchises is primarily responsible for man-management and providing players with the confidence they need to perform at the highest level.

“This is not the Indian team where they claim credit for victories and blame others for defeats. A mentor serves no purpose on an IPL team. The biggest responsibility is man-management and instilling confidence in the players, but ultimately, a coach only appears good when the team performs well, which Delhi have not done at all. Sehwag concluded, “I believe Delhi has reached a point where they are uncertain about how to change their fortunes.”
