On Friday, October 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India will play their first Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 matchup versus New Zealand. Prior to India’s flight to the United Arab Emirates, captain Harmanpreet Kaur had a press conference where she discussed her expectations for the Women in Blue at the major event.
India only ever advanced to the final of the 2009 T20 World Cup, which was played for the first time.
But Harmanpreet Kaur insisted that her squad is prepared to compete well in the ten-team competition, which gets underway on October 3.
According to the Indian captain, some players have been with the team for a long time and are aware of what is expected of them.
“…if I talk about this team, we have few players who have been playing for longer time and they know their roles really well and yeah, I’m quite confident with this team and I can say that yeah, this is the best team we are going for the T20 World Cup,” Harmanpreet stated to the press on Tuesday, September 24.
I believe there will be some bounce at the beginning of the season: Amol Muzumdar
During the press conference, India’s head coach Amol Muzumdar was asked about his thoughts on the tournament’s move from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates. There is usually some bounce for the bowlers in the early part of the season, especially in Dubai, the 49-year-old added, recalling his experience as a coach in the 2020 Indian Premier League, which was hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
I believe that was unexpected by all of us. To acclimatise ourselves to the circumstances, we had travelled expressly to Bangladesh in May and played five Twenty20 matches there. However, as you may have noticed, things have moved to Dubai. I believe the environment would be comparable to what we have in India. Just before the beginning of their season, nonetheless, let me share my experience from my time spent in the IPL in 2020.

At the beginning of the season, I anticipate some surface bounce. especially in Dubai. However, Muzumdar clarified, “Overall conditions, including rest, stay the same, just like in India.”
