Brad Hogg, a legendary spinner from Australia, believes that the Gujarat Titans (GT) won’t lose Hardik Pandya in the next Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. In their first IPL season in 2022, Hardik Pandya led the Titans to their maiden championship, and in 2023, he led the team to the runners-up spot.
In the meantime, ahead of the 2024 IPL, he inked a high-profile deal with the Mumbai Indians (MI). The former cricket player claimed that although Hardik is a good middle-order all-arounder, the Titans would be better off with him in a recent video that he uploaded to his YouTube account.
“I don’t really think Hardik Pandya’s loss to GT is that great. They can cover it, even though he is a good middle-order all-arounder. That team has excellent depth when it comes to bowling. “I don’t think he was best suited at the top order, where he was batting, so the Gujarat Titans are better off without him,” Hogg said.
He went on to say that the five-time winners might benefit greatly from having Hardik Pandya on staff.
It is preferable for Mumbai to have an Indian all-round player batting in the bottom middle order, and I believe Hardik will do just that. The former cricket player continued, “I believe the Mumbai Indians will see Hardik back at his best.”
Before the 2024 IPL season began on March 22, Hardik arrived in the MI camp. The opening game at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium will see the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings take on the three-time finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The star all-rounder was seen entering the team’s dressing room and doing a pooja with head coach Mark Boucher in a video shared by MI’s official social media account. As for the unreversed, Hardik will take over as captain of Mumbai, taking over from Rohit Sharma, who has led the team since the start of the profitable league.
