All-round player Nitish Kumar Reddy of Sunrisers Hyderabad stated he is getting ready for the part that Indian cricket team member Hardik Pandya plays.
After impressing both experts and fans with his all-around skills, the young player was crowned the IPL 2024 Emerging Player of the Year.
Ahead of Zimbabwe’s T20I series against India, Nitish was called up to his first national team. But an injury sustained at the last minute kept him from the tour, and Shivam Dube took his place. The 21-year-old isn’t overly concerned, though, because he is aware that his chance will come later. His expectations for his participation in the Indian Team were recently discussed.
Perhaps I’ll be able to play at number six or seven, ideally in a Hardik Pandya capacity. I’m willing to bat anywhere I’m required to, but right now I’m getting ready for Hardik Pandya’s position,” Reddy stated in an NDTV interview.
Reddy admitted it would be difficult for him to obtain opportunities to bat at the top of the order because the Indian team has players with greater experience. That being said, he stated he is willing to bat at any position if it is needed by the squad.
“I’ll open too if you ask me to.” As more seasoned players enter the game, I won’t have the opportunity to play at the top order anytime soon. I have to adjust to any job that I’m given, and domestic cricket has helped me prepare for this,” the Visakhapatnam native stated.
Once Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retire, young people will have possibilities; they must seize them: Stubborn
Recent announcements of retirement from Twenty20 Internationals came from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. Following the retirements of the three Indian cricket legends, Reddy thinks that young people would have more opportunity. Making the most of opportunities presented to players, in the young player’s opinion, will be imperative.
It pleases me that children who are doing well can advance. Opportunities for young people will arise with the retirements of Jaddu bhai (Ravindra Jadeja), Virat bhai (Virat Kohli), and Rohit bhai (Rohit Sharma). Reddy remarked, “We have to seize them.”
Reddy represents Puma, the same company that his “inspiration,” Kohli, plays for. For their support during the IPL, the all-round player thanked Puma.
“Being associated with Puma makes me extremely pleased, as Virat Kohli is my biggest motivation. The best part is that Puma is giving young people like Riyan Parag and myself opportunities,” Reddy remarked. “Puma genuinely backed me throughout the IPL.”
