A young Punjabi spinner that Harbhajan Singh just selected may be able to fill the vacuum left by Ravichandran Ashwin’s announcement of his retirement from international cricket.
In the third season of Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024, the former cricket player from India is leading the defending champion Manipal Tigers. Cricketer Harbhajan was asked to suggest a player who may replace Ashwin on the fringes of the franchise tournament. Anmoljeet Singh, a 17-year-old cricketer who is now a broadcaster, has great talent and has the potential to carry on India’s tradition of off-spinners.
In an exclusive interview with, Harbhajan stated, “Anmol from Punjab, who was recently selected for the U19 team against Australia, could carry forward the legacy of off-spin and potentially take Ashwin’s place.”
Towards the twilight of Harbhajan Singh’s career, India was fortunate to discover someone with Ashwin’s calibre.
By shattering multiple records, the Tamil Nadu off-spinner carried on where his erstwhile teammate had left off and made history.
Despite turning 38 years old lately, Ashwin won Player of the Series in the recently finished two-match Test series between Bangladesh and India, demonstrating no signs of slowing down. To guarantee a smooth transfer should Ashwin decide to hang up his boots, the Asian giants will need to train a successor in the upcoming years.
Anmoljeet Singh: who is she?
Taking a lot of wickets in the past two seasons, Anmoljeet—who regards Harbhajan as his idol—was selected for the India U19 squad for the two Youth Tests against Australia. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy U16 national tournament, he took 65 wickets and helped Punjab win the championship.

In Chennai for the first four days of the match against Australia, Anmoljeet was not included in the playing XI. On Monday, October 7, the second match will begin. It would be intriguing to see if the gifted cricket player is included in the squad.
