Harbhajan Singh Blasts Indian Team Management Over Asia Cup Picks Before Match Against Sri Lanka

Harbhajan Singh voiced a number of concerns regarding the team selections made by India after they were eliminated from the Asia Cup. India’s next match is against Sri Lanka.

After suffering consecutive defeats in the Super 4 round, India was eliminated from the Asia Cup. Their losses came at the hands of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In both matches, India was given the opportunity to bat but they were unable to defend the totals they had scored.

Harbhajan Singh, a former India spinner, took to Twitter after India’s loss to Sri Lanka in Dubai to criticise the team management and query key exclusions. Sri Lanka defeated India by the score of 2-1. “Where is Umran malik (150km speed) ? Why didn’t they have Deepak Chahar, who is a swing bowler of the highest calibre? Please enlighten me as to whether or not these guys are deserving of the opportunities.” Harbhajan tweeted.

“Why doesn’t Dinesh Karthik get opportunities on a regular basis? Disappointing,” he added.

India had scored 181 for seven in their innings against Pakistan, but their bowlers were unable to defend that total. Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz of Pakistan assisted their team in reaching the target with five wickets to spare.

The next match was played against Sri Lanka, and Rohit Sharma led India’s batting attempts with a score of 72 off 41 balls. However, the rest of the order struggled, and India was only able to produce a score of 173/8.

The opening partnership of 97 runs between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka laid the groundwork for Sri Lanka’s chase. Despite the fact that they lost four wickets in the span of 13 runs, Sri Lanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka and the experienced Bhanuka Rajapaksa brought them across the finish line with four wickets still in the bag.

The scant chances that India had of making it to the final were dashed on Wednesday when Pakistan won a nail-biting match against Afghanistan in the last over.

On Thursday, India will play their final match of the tournament, which is scheduled to be against Afghanistan.
