After India’s recent T20 World Cup victory, former India head coach Greg Chappell sent his best wishes to Rahul Dravid. With this victory, Indian cricket achieves a major first, breaking an 11-year wait for an ICC championship and serving as the ideal send-off for coach Rahul Dravid.
Dravid and the Caribbean islands have had a complicated connection. In Test matches, he was an excellent player, but as captain of India in the 2007 ODI World Cup, his team was eliminated early. The recent T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados, nevertheless, has changed the plot and provided Dravid’s Caribbean tale with redemption.
This is an excellent way for him to wrap up his tenure with the team: Greg Chappell
The Men in Blue won their second T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 29. Since Dravid had declared before the competition that his coaching career was coming to an end, this victory was very meaningful. Chappell offered his opinions on India’s triumph after a contentious spell as coach from 2005 to 2007.
“India is the winner of the T20 World Cup. Congratulations. Rahul’s contribution to the victory makes me especially happy. His obvious love for Indian cricket has always been evident, therefore it must be very fulfilling for him to have played a key role in the preparation for this victory. It is an excellent means for him to conclude his tenure with the team, Chappell informed me.

Along with the victory, veteran Indian cricket players Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from Twenty20 internationals. Gautam Gambhir, the erstwhile opener, is emerging as a possible contender for Dravid’s replacement as India looks to the future.
The next opportunity to watch the Men in Blue play is a five-match Twenty20 International series starting on July 6 against Zimbabwe. For the series, Shubman Gill will be the team’s leader.
