It has been confirmed by his wife that former England hitter Graham Thorpe took his own life following a protracted struggle with anxiety and despair. Graham Thorpe leaves behind two kids, Emma, 19, and Kitty, 22, along with his wife, Amanda Thorpe. The sudden death of the former England batting coach, Thorpe, 55, has prompted condolences from all quarters. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed Thorpe’s passing on August 5.
Following a devastating loss for England Cricket involving the retirement of a key player, there was a minute’s silence observed during Farnham Cricket Club’s match versus Chipstead Cricket Club. Moreover, the same thing happened in Cardiff, Lord’s, and the Oval.
Graham Thorpe suffered from severe mental health problems, according to Amanda, who also expressed regret that the veteran did not get well despite having her and their two children before making the terrible decision.
He did not get better, even though he had a wife and two girls who he loved and they loved him. We are heartbroken that he acted on that belief and took his own life because he was quite ill recently and truly thought that we would be better off without him. According to Amanda, who was cited by Express, Graham had been experiencing severe anxiety and sadness for the last few years.
Due to this, he made a major attempt on his life in May 2022, necessitating a lengthy stay in an intensive care unit. He continued to experience anxiety and sadness, which occasionally became very acute, despite moments of hope and the old Graham. He attempted a great deal of therapies, but sadly none of them appeared to be very effective. We supported him as a family,” she continued.
