The process behind Faruque Ahmed and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim’s appointment to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director positions was recently made public by the National Sports Council (NSC). Following Ahmed’s election as the new BCB president at the sports ministry’s important board meeting, the appointments were made.
The NSC also proposed Faruque and Fahim to take the place of Sajjadul Alam Bobby and Jalal Yunus as BCB directors at this meeting. Discussions on the NSC’s authority and role in the operation of BCB have been spurred by these changes.
However, in accordance with Article 13.2 (kha) 4 of the constitution, the National Sports Council has nominated Mr. Faruque Ahmed and Mr. Nazmul Abedin Fahim in the director category, which is very welcomed, according to a press release from the NSC.
Suggestions for jurisprudential philosophy: NSC
The disclosure by the NSC underscored that the BCB’s constitution made the nominations. It specifically highlighted Article 9.3.2 about the resignation of Yunus and the appointment of Fahim as a council member that followed. In addition, the NSC invoked Article 13.2 (kha) 4 to support the nomination of Fahim and Faruque as directors.
“On August 19, 2024, Mr. Mohammad Jalal Yunus resigned from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, per Article 9.3.2 of the Board’s Constitution. Mr. Nazmul Abedin Fahim was appointed to the one stated vacant post, nominated by the Sports Council, from among the five representatives previously nominated by the National Sports Council in the Councillor category,” the press release continued.
The procedure hasn’t been without criticism, either. One of the directors that was replaced, Sajjadul Alam Bobby, criticised the NSC’s actions, calling them “direct interference” with BCB’s business. Broader goals were also mentioned in the NSC press release.

Such nominations are made with the utmost caution, adhering to the regulations that are in place, based on the philosophy of Jurisprudence. The government is dedicated to maintaining the fairness, effectiveness, activity, and continuity of all federations and associations’ operations, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The press statement continued, “It is anticipated that all parties will cooperate in the process of improving the area of sports in the nation.
