The announcement of Gautam Gambhir as the senior men’s team’s new head coach, following Rahul Dravid’s stint as head coach, is about to happen, according to BCCI authorities. The cricket player from Delhi attended the CAC interview via Zoom lately, and all the paperwork needs to be finished in a week before BCCI makes the announcement.
When the current T20 World Cup 2024 concludes on June 30, Rahul Dravid’s time with the Indian squad comes to an end. The Men in Blue will then go to Zimbabwe for a five-match Twenty20 International series, which begins on July 6. According to recent sources, Gambhir, the team’s future coach, will not be playing. Rather, a youthful team comprising cricket players not included in the World Cup roster will be travelling alongside NCA president VVS Laxman.
Dravid has been replaced on several occasions by Laxman, and this trend is probably going to continue. India triumphed at the October 2023 Asian Games and numerous more bilateral series under his direction. On July 27, the series against Sri Lanka is scheduled to start, and Gambhir is anticipated to be a part of the team. Nothing has been officially announced, but it is expected that several experienced cricketers will rejoin the team.

It is possible that Laxman would go to Zimbabwe with the reorganised team, along with a few NCA trainers. When Rahul Dravid and the first team coaches took occasional pauses during their tenure, Laxman and the NCA team always filled in,” a BCCI source was cited by Hindustan Times as saying.
Former India Women head coach WV Raman is reportedly joining the Rohit Sharma-led team in addition to Gautam Gambhir.
Although BCCI has not yet confirmed the news, he is probably going to take over as batting coach. It is rumoured that the seasoned coach conducted an interview for the position; further information will be revealed later. One of the favourites to be designated the fielding coach is Jonty Rhodes in the meanwhile.
