Gautam Gambhir, a former batter for India, was named the team’s new head coach by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Following the T20 World Cup 2024, the Men in Blue’s time under former coach Rahul Dravid came to an end. Following considerable conjecture, Gambhir was named as Dravid’s replacement.
Although there will be a lot of pressure on Gambhir to succeed Dravid in his role as head coach, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik is optimistic about the former opener’s performance.
Recently, Karthik spoke up and praised Gautam Gambhir, calling him a capable leader who is the ideal choice to guide the Indian squad in the correct way.
“He’s an excellent leader. He will, in my opinion, benefit the Indian squad in two ways. He is a total players’ man, to start with. In international cricket, it can be easy to feel alone or abandoned when results don’t go your way. That’s why it’s crucial that he protects his teammates. Gambhir will therefore carry out that, Karthik stated on
Furthermore, he will undoubtedly provide this Indian squad with a deft tactical edge. He was a really tough, passionate man who always enjoyed representing the team and would go above and beyond to win a cricket match,” he continued.
It is noteworthy that the Indian team is prepared to embark on a white-ball series visit of Sri Lanka. The three T20Is and three ODIs between the two teams will take place on July 27. It’s also noteworthy that this would be Gautam Gambhir’s debut series leading the Indian team.
