On July 9, Gautam Gambhir, a former cricket player from India, was named head coach of the Indian squad, taking over from Rahul Dravid. After captaining Kolkata Knight Riders to titles in 2012 and 2014, the seasoned coach guided the team to its third IPL 2024 victory. Expert pundit Harsha Bhogle has described Gambhir as a “highly misunderstood” individual.
Gambhir looks to be a more combative middle-fielder, and his legendary altercations with former teammate Virat Kohli are evidence of his ferocity. Bhogle said that the former southpaw has a “tremendous” record as a captain in India, despite the fact that many had expressed concerns about his leadership due to the intensity.
“I believe that Gautam Gambhir is a little misinterpreted due to his body language, his brash appearance, and his constant need to pick fights. However, he has an excellent track record as a leader in India, and the players who were under Gautam Gambhir hold him in high regard. Therefore, there is also a people’s person behind Gautam Gambhir, which is something that will be put to the test less here and less in India. About five [Tests] in Australia and five in England, I believe. He will be put to the test in that situation, Bhogle stated in an interview with Talk Sport.
