Having captained Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Ruturaj Gaikwad claimed he is now more involved in the game.
Prior to IPL 2024, the renowned MS Dhoni gave the right-handed hitter the captaincy, and the youthful player performed admirably in his maiden season in command. CSK started the season with four straight victories, but as the season progressed, they lost momentum and ultimately concluded at No. 5. Nonetheless, Ruturaj discussed the advantages of leading the venerable team, emphasising his efforts to bat more responsibly and complete games by himself. He added that being the league captain in the lucrative league has allowed him to play for longer stretches of time during games.

In actuality, not much has changed—the batting has remained constant. Nothing has changed; it’s still all about taking on responsibilities and doing everything on my own. It’s just the perspective you bring to the game each time. As you’ve led an IPL team for a considerable amount of time, you’re now more invested in the game. As a result, you usually stay in the game longer than if you were to merely stand beyond the perimeter and concentrate on a single ball. “As I mentioned, there hasn’t been much of a difference,” Gaikwad stated in a BCCI-released video.
Performance thus far on the Zimbabwe tour by Ruturaj Gaikwad
Currently, the Maharashtra batsman is representing India against Zimbabwe in a five-match Twenty20 International series. He was removed for seven runs by Blessing Muzarabani in the opening game, which was a dismal performance. But in the rematch, he recovered magnificently, hitting 11 fours and one six in an undefeated 77 off 47 balls. Ruturaj will like to improve on this setback and guarantee his place in the Indian T20I team.
The third and final Twenty20 international match of the series, which is intriguingly tied at one, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 at the Harare Sports Club.
