In light of the fact that he is primarily focused on test cricket, Stokes has now revealed that the international cricket schedule will play a role in determining whether or not he participates in leagues outside of the United Kingdom.
Ben Stokes, the current captain of the England Test team, is widely considered to be one of the best players in all of cricket. Everyone is aware of what he is capable of achieving on a good day, which is the primary reason that large bids have been placed on him each time he has participated in the Indian Premier League auction. In spite of this, Stokes has made the decision to sit out the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League so that he can focus on managing his workload and performing at his best for England. The left-handed batsman had only played one game in the tournament for Rajasthan Royals before sustaining an injury in the previous year. Subsequently, in 2021, he took a vacation from cricket in order to focus on his mental health and take care of himself.
In light of the fact that he is primarily focused on test cricket, Stokes has now revealed that the international cricket schedule will play a role in determining whether or not he participates in leagues outside of the United Kingdom.
“As cricketers for England, our schedules are always hectic, and it seems as though we are competing at some point during the year. When our winter arrives, I believe it will be everybody’s summer, and when our summer leaves, it will be everybody’s winter. Therefore, either others are going to travel to this location to play, or we ourselves are going to travel to play cricket. It is a matter of looking at timetables and planning ahead to see what activities are planned for the future. However, as I have made it abundantly apparent, the game of test cricket is at the forefront of my thoughts, and from this point forward, all of my decisions on how I spend my time will be centred on test matches. Now that I am the captain, the obligation to do that falls on my shoulders “said Stokes during a special media call organised by Prime Video, which will begin streaming Stokes’ documentary titled “Ben Stokes: Phoenix From the Ashes” on August 26. Prime Video organised the event.
“My commitments outside of any international cricket will be determined by our schedule and what international cricket we have coming up, but, as you probably well know, I have played in the Indian Premier League for the past four years.
Every time I have gone there, I have had a fantastic experience. It is a fantastic experience to be a part of the tournament, not just for the spectacle of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but also for the opportunity to work alongside some of the best players in the world and some of the best coaches. It is an absolutely incredible opportunity to be a part of, but as I mentioned before, there is a schedule that has to be looked at around the time window of the IPL “he added.
In the earlier part of this year, Stokes became leadership of the England Test team. The phrase “Bazball” has recently become the topic of conversation because to the work that England has done in conjunction with their head coach Brendon McCullum to reimagine how they want to play their Test cricket. On the other hand, both Stokes and McCullum have expressed that they do not like for the term very much in interviews. Since Stokes and McCullum took over as captains, England has posted a 4-1 record in Test matches.
“It has been an amazing experience. One of the most important tasks for both Baz and I right now is to make sure that people don’t start referring to our cricket as “Bazball.” I just wanted to let whoever came up with that word know that Brendon and I do not agree with it in any way.
But Baz and I have gotten off to an outstanding start, as we have won our first four games. However, the aspect of our cricket and mental approach that has impressed me the most is how we have approached the game. Even if we had lost all four of those games, we would still be thinking very favourably about how well we performed because we know that people came out to watch us play, even if we had lost all four games, we would still be thinking extremely positively about how well we played “explained Stokes.
“Those who came to watch us play would have had a good time at each and every one of those matches, and that is something that I have worked hard to accomplish in order to alleviate some of the stresses that come along with playing international cricket. When you focus on the amount of strain that you are under, it’s easy to forget that at the end of the day, we are in the entertainment business. Because we are competing at the highest level of our sport, a lot of people are coming to watch us play. And sport is entertainment.
Go out into the world, and perform for people for five days straight, one set for each session you have during the day. If we don’t play well, we are doomed to lose, but if we play well, we have a decent chance of winning. If we don’t play well, we are going to lose. It is quite easy; all you have to do is get out there, have some fun, and enjoy yourself “He then gave his final signature.
