The Canada Men’s T20 event is back after a three-year break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be held at the Brampton Sports Park from July 20 to August 6.
Sport has a special ability to shine in the face of trouble and make people stronger and more determined, and Cricket Canada and Global T20 management are great examples of this.
There will be six franchises in the tournament, and each team will have 16 players from full and associate countries. There will be two world-famous “marker” players, three players from the Canadian National Team, and three up-and-coming Canadian Cricketers on each team. They will play 25 matches over 18 days.
Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, David Warner, Steve Smith, Brendon McCullum, and Thisara Perera were among the players in the first two Global T20 tournaments. Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, and Mahela Jayawardene were among the mentors.
“Cricket Canada is excited to tell you that the Global T20, Canada’s biggest cricket event, is BACK and ready to entertain you again with exciting match play and some of the best names in the business.
With Canada’s return to ODI status, Cricket Canada President Rashpal Bajwa said, “Global T20 will serve as a catalyst to kick off our campaign to reach our goal of being one of the top Associate Nations.”
“We’re happy that GT20 Canada is coming back. “In season 3, we want to make the playing experience better for our players, put on a world-class event for tens of thousands of fans, and encourage a new generation of cricket fans to start playing,” he said. “We think the growth of Cricket in North America is happening at an exciting time, and Season 3 will be a big part of that.”
