Since Ramiz Raja was ousted from his position as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), a number of influential people in the cricket community in Pakistan have voiced their opposition to him.
Now, experienced Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz has added his voice to the chorus of criticism directed at the previous PCB management team that was led by Ramiz, who is also a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team.
Riaz, who has appeared for Pakistan in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20 Internationals, stated that the previous management never gave any consideration to the players’ requests.
In an interview with Samaa News, Wahab Riaz was reported by Cricket Pakistan as saying, “We had a lot of troubles with the previous board.” This comment was taken from the interview.
According to the seasoned pacer, he was given the impression that he was not wanted. According to Wahab, “We were told things such as, ‘You have no clue how difficult it is to accommodate you, nobody would keep you in a squad.'”
“That gave us the impression that several of our Loolhay Langray players have never accomplished anything significant in the game,” we said.
Wahab further stated that the previous PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja, did not answer to any of his calls or texts. “I am still actively playing cricket; I have not yet retired. Why did he never answer me? “he inquired. If the people who work for you and report to you are unhappy, then that says a lot about you.
After Ramiz Raja was removed from his position without proper ceremony, the new management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the previous chairman engaged in a verbal exchange that quickly escalated into a war of words. On Wednesday, the Board threatened to take legal action against Raja.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its disappointment over the comments made and language used by former Chairman Mr. Ramiz Raja against Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Mr. Najam Sethi on a social media platform and in a TV interview,” the PCB said in a statement. “The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its disappointment over the comments made and language used by Mr. Ramiz Raja.”
“The PCB believes that former Chairman Mr. Raja’s comments are aimed at tarnishing and damaging the impeccable reputation of present Chairman Mr. Sethi, and it adds that it reserves its rights to pursue legal proceedings in order to protect and defend the image and credibility of its Chairman and the institution.”
Raja was ousted from his position as chairman of the PCB by the government of the country on Thursday of this week. The government also appointed a 14-member committee to oversee the operations of the game for the next four months, and Najam Sethi will serve as the group’s chairman.
After he was fired, Raja claimed that after the government suspended the constitution, he was not even permitted to retrieve his personal items from the board office.
