The ODI World Cup 2023 is well under way, cricket enthusiasm is at its height, and it appears like the time for the Eden Gardens in Kolkata has finally arrived as the competition travels around various areas of India. On October 28, Bangladesh and the Netherlands will play in the stadium’s inaugural match. Prior to hosting the games, the stadium underwent significant renovations.
In addition, the Eden Gardens will host the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals. In preparation for these eagerly anticipated games, the clubhouse, conference room, dressing room, media center, main hall, and historic photo gallery have all underwent significant renovations and received a fresh new design.
A specific wall in the gallery is devoted to the former cricketers and officials connected to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Additionally, Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India and BCCI president, has a commemorative wall in his honor. Speaking on the possibility of hosting up to five World Cup games in the stadium, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehasish Ganguly stepped forward.
“It’s a fantastic chance because Eden Gardens will host all five World Cup games, including the semifinal. This kind of opportunity, in my opinion, only arises once every hundred years.
We had two or three matches earlier. This time, we have five crucial matches, according to Snehasish Ganguly, who was mentioned by The Print.
“Bangladesh is a very good squad in a 50-over format, so we have them and Pakistan. We are excited to host England vs. Pakistan because England is the reigning champion. Therefore, I believe that all of the matchups are notable and difficult,” he continued.

This has been in the works for more than a year: Mr. Snehashish Ganguly
Several walls that are a part of the restoration for the ODI World Cup 2023 have distinct connotations. Some of the most memorable events that have occurred at Eden Gardens are depicted on one of the walls, and when discussing the same, Snehasish Ganguly said that the board had been planning the makeover for more than a year.
“This has been in the works for more than a year. We put a lot of effort into the design. Everyone wants their stadium to seem distinctive and different because the World Cup is an international event. Because it is a renowned stadium, Eden Garden is unique. One of the best corporate boxes in the nation is located in the stadium, according to Ganguly.
