David Warner, an experienced hitter from Australia, is undoubtedly one of the best players to have ever played in the Indian Premier League. He is the owner of numerous records and took home the captain’s award in 2016. But he hasn’t had as much pleasure in recent years. Under his direction, the Delhi Capitals were unable to make it to the postseason in 2023, and Warner was finally benched from the starting lineup in 2024 for not taking advantage of his opportunity.
Aaron Finch, a former cricketer, believes Warner will play in the IPL the next year despite this.
He thinks teams would like to have an accomplished player like him who can develop new players in addition to being a strong batsman.
There will be a major auction at the conclusion of this year. I believe that a team would be thrilled to have Warner’s experience, whether it be in the lineup, as a replacement, or as a mentor for up-and-coming players. Finch told ESPNCricinfo, “I wouldn’t say it’s his last IPL game, but he’s had a rough season.”
Michael Clarke, Warner’s former teammate, continued by saying that although the southpaw may not command as much money as he once did due to his poor play, the teams should still see the value Warner offers.
“He might be selected at the auction, but he might not receive the amount he is accustomed to.” You can’t expect the same money because he isn’t giving it his all at this point in his career. If he is not picked up, I wouldn’t be shocked,” Clarke remarked.

Notably, in the current IPL, the 37-year-old has participated in eight games and amassed 168 runs at a strike percentage of 134.40. After suffering a finger injury that sidelined him for a while, Warner was unable to regain his spot in the starting lineup because Jake Fraser-McGurk, a fellow countryman, was preferred by Delhi.
