After Team India did not advance to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup the previous year, Captain Rohit Sharma of India stated that everyone on the team thought that there has to be a change in mentality. He said that everyone believed that there needs to be a change in attitude.
Following defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand in the Super 12s round, Team India was unable to advance to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup that was held a year ago. As a result, the event did not prove to be successful for Team India. Virat Kohli was the captain of the team at the time. Rohit Sharma, who is currently serving as the team’s captain, has revealed what took place after the team was eliminated from the competition and discussed the relationship he has with Rahul Dravid, who is currently serving as the team’s head coach.
“After the Twenty20 World Cup in Dubai, in which we did not qualify and in which we believed that there needs to be a change in our mindset, our approach, and how we play the game, we made it very clear to the guys that this was the message that they needed to hear, and they received it. They were prepared to rise to the occasion and take on that challenge. There wasn’t a lot of shuffling going on in the team. I have competed against Rahul Bhai in several matches, and he was my first captain when I made my One-Day International (ODI) debut, so it stands to reason that we have some kind of familiarity with one another “remarked Rohit on the show ‘Follow The Blues’ that is produced by Star Sports.
“And when he was appointed the coach here, we did meet and sat together in a room for a while and we made the decision how we want to take this team forward and he was pretty much on the same thought process of how I was thinking,” he added. “And when he was appointed the coach here, we met and sat together in a room for a while and we decided how we want to take this team forward and we decided how we want
After India’s victory in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021, Rohit took over as captain of the white-ball cricket team. Earlier in the year 2022, Rohit was promoted to the position of Test captain after Virat Kohli resigned in the aftermath of a disappointing performance against South Africa.
The recently concluded ODI and T20I series between India and England was won by Team India under Rohit’s leadership. This year’s Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Australia, and India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the tournament.
