Faruque Ahmed, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has stated that the board has got security assurances for Bangladesh’s side for the upcoming tour to India from Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
It is important to note that after the right-wing Hindu nationalist party Hindu Mahasabha objected to the group’s visit to India, security worries for Bangladesh surfaced.
The Daily Star reported Faruque Ahmed as stating, “I spoke with Jay Shah, and he assured us regarding security.”
Moreover, if Bangladesh visited India, the Hindu Mahasabha had recently threatened to hold protests in Kanpur. Jaiveer Bharadwaj, the party’s vice president, also spoke up and said that the group will not support the October 6 T20I to begin the three-match series in Gwalior.
India and Bangladesh will face off in a multiformat series.
Regarding the forthcoming series, Bangladesh is scheduled to go on a multi-format trip of India. Two Test matches will kick off the series, after which both teams will play three Twenty20 Internationals against one another. On September 19, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the first Test of the series.
Additionally, starting on September 27, the second Test will take place in Kanpur. Following the two Test matches, the T20I series will start. The dates of the three games are October 6, 9, and 12.
It’s also important to remember that Bangladesh and India will value the Test series highly. With nine Test matches completed, India leads the World Test Championship rankings at this time. They have won six, lost two, and drawn one. With 74 points, the team hopes to win both of the Test matches against Bangladesh in order to solidify their place in the WTC final.
