Farhan Ahmed, 16, became the youngest bowler to take five wickets in the County Championship. Farhan Ahmed, the younger brother of England’s leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, has excelled at an early age.
His Trent Bridge performance for Nottinghamshire versus Surrey broke all records. Farhan beat Derbyshire’s Hamidullah Qadri’s 2017 five-wicket haul record of 16 years and 203 days at 16 years and 189 days. This feat is even more astounding given the batsmen the teenager dismissed, including Test stars Rory Burns, Ben Foakes, and Will Jacks.
Avoid teams with two leg-spinners: Farhan Ahmed
Farhan Ahmed’s 7-140 from 50.4 overs showcased his wicket-taking and control. In a game where Surrey scored over 500 runs, he outperformed his more experienced teammates with an economy rate of 2.76 runs per over. Farhan has made news before.
He represented England at U19 and set a Nottinghamshire County Championship record as a youngster. Farhan bowls off-spin, unlike his leg-spinner brother Rehan. Both brothers hope to represent England together.
