Cricket is a team sport, according to former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir has always emphasized the performance of the entire team over that of individuals when given the chance.
The former Indian opener has frequently argued that the public and media should cease idolizing particular individuals and instead praise the entire team. The 41-year-old, however, got himself into some problems recently after making some remarks during the India-Pakistan game in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.
In game four of the 2010 Asia Cup, when India defeated Pakistan, Gambhir and former captain MS Dhoni helped India narrowly escape with a victory. India ultimately won the game thanks to runs scored by Harbhajan Singh. Gambhir voiced his opinion on the matter and claimed that India won that game because of Harbhajan.
“Maine nehi, Harbhajan Singh ne tha, jitaya maine. Although I did not win that game for India, Meri aur Dhoni ke beech sajidari zarur huyi thi (I did not win that game for India). Harbhajan was there. Gautam Gambhir was quoted by the Hindustan Times as stating, “Yes, I did form a partnership with Dhoni, but I think the batter who scores the winning run genuinely seals victory for the team.
