On September 10, India and Pakistan’s Super Four stage match kicked off at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. After winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bowl first. India was at 147 after losing two wickets when the rain stopped play in the 25th over. Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistani starting quarterback, was seen in the meantime assisting the grounds crew in covering the pitch after it rained.
India’s match got off to a fast and furious start with openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill going all out. The pair put together a 121-run partnership for the first wicket while each scoring fifty runs.
Before falling short in favour of all-rounder Shadab Khan, the captain of India struck 56 from 49 deliveries, including six boundaries and four maximums. During this time, the youthful player scored 58 runs, including ten fours. Star speedster Shahaeen Shah Afridi dismissed the 24-year-old, and Salman Ali Agha made an easy catch.
