The teams for England Men’s selection committee’s forthcoming T20I and ODI series against Australia, which is scheduled to start next month, have been revealed.
On September 11, 2024, at Southampton’s Utilita Bowl, the three-match T20I series is slated to get underway. The Three Lions will then play each other in a five-match ODI series, which begins on September 19 at Trent Bridge.
Both accomplished athletes and intriguing newcomers are represented in the squads. Notably, Dan Mousley, Josh Hull, and Jacob Bethell have all been called up for the first time. After serving a three-month suspension for betting violations, Brydon Carse returns, and John Turner, who is uncapped, is included in both squads.
White-ball series are missed by Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, and Jonny Bairstow.
Nevertheless, the team lacks the usual suspects, like as Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, and Jonny Bairstow, who all competed in the June T20 World Cup. The bowling department will need to overcome Mark Wood’s injury-related absence.
For both series, Marcus Trescothick will serve as the team’s acting head coach while Jos Buttler assumes the captaincy. Following his recovery from a calf strain, Buttler is anticipated to return in the T20 Blast quarter-final for Lancashire, shortly before the Australia series.
