At the end of Day 4, Pakistan was behind nearly 160 runs, having lost six wickets, with just Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal (55*) still undefeated. The England bowlers began the fifth Test day by bowling bouncers to Jamal, who even took one to the helmet. It was all about them doing their jobs. The pair was demonstrating incredible tenacity as they finished the 100-run stand.
Jack Leach caught Agha plumb, just in front of the stumps, as he was batting on 63. Ollie Pope missed a half-chance while rushing backward, despite Brydon Carse having engineered Jamal’s wicket. Pope even managed to spare him a direct hit that came quite near. Pakistan were eight down when Leach, once again in his element, sent Shaheen Afridi (10) packing.
Entering at number nine, Naseem Shah faced two deliveries before being out of the game trying to get a big shot. Due to injury worries, Abrar Ahmed had exited the Test, which meant Pakistan was without a number 11 and faced another loss at home.
By an innings and forty-seven runs, England won the opening Test. Pakistan gained an unwanted milestone as well, being the first side to lose a Test match by an innings after amassing more than 500 runs in the opening session.

Leach was the pick of four wickets for England, while Brydon Carse and Gus Atkinson both claimed two wickets. Due to his outstanding 317 runs in the first innings, Harry Brook was voted the Player of the Match. On October 15, the team will face off in the second Test at the same location in Multan.

147 years of Test cricket, PAK will set an record the first team to lose a match after posting 500+ in the first inning. Pakistan team should take a break from cricket and consult a psychiatrist to understand why they consistently feel pressure in crucial moment #PakistanCricket

They used to say Shaheen was a world class bowler. He is actually a very below average ordinary bowler. There are many bowlers in India better than him. #PakistanCricket #PAKvENG
