In international cricket, England will play some important matches soon. Prior to these games, the management has also added a few new members. The latest addition to the coaching and management team is Tim Southee, the great pacer from New Zealand who will be temporarily joining England’s men’s team as a Specialist Skills Consultant.
Ahead of an extremely hectic international calendar, the 36-year-old legend from New Zealand has joined the team. He resigned from international cricket in December. Beginning on June 20th, Southee will provide his services for the one-time Test match against Zimbabwe and the subsequent five-match Test series against India.
Following that, he will resume his responsibilities as a member of The Hundred Men’s team, playing for the Birmingham Phoenix in the franchise tournament. His hiring was also promoted on social media by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
“Our just hired Specialist Skills Consultant. Tim Southee, the all-time top wicket-taker in New Zealand, will be joining us temporarily, the ECB announced via their official ‘X’ handle.
Tim Southee is an underappreciated legend from New Zealand.
Considering Tim Southee’s international cricket career, he continues to be the Black Caps’ leading wicket-taker. At an average of 29.57, the former captain of New Zealand has collected 776 wickets in 394 international matches. He was instrumental in the Kiwis’ victory in the first WTC championship and has participated in three World Cup finals.
His record in Test cricket is also impressive; in 107 games, he has claimed 391 wickets at an average of 30.26, including 15 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul. He is now New Zealand’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, trailing only Kiwi legend Sir Richard Hadlee.
