During the post-match presentation ceremony of Match 63 of the current Indian Premier League between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar Yadav dedicated his Player of the Match award to his wife and professional dance coach, Devisha Shetty.
This was Suryakumar Yadav first IPL 2025 POTM award.
He also credited his undefeated 57-run partnership with Naman Dhir towards the close of MI’s innings with giving the team much-needed impetus while standing under an umbrella with Harsha Bhogle because of the rain that was falling shortly after the ceremony had started.
“There have now been 13 games. Today, my wife shared a charming story with me. “You have every award but POTM,” she stated. Today’s reward is unique. The knock was significant from the team’s perspective, and this trophy is also for her. She waits for these occasions, and we naturally anticipate and celebrate them. It was crucial that one batter bat all the way through. We had to wait until the very end since we knew there would be one over of 15–20 runs somewhere. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar said, “It was also a turning point the way Naman came in and shared that energy with me.”

The 59-run victory guaranteed MI sure shot playoff qualification. This was the 11th time MI had made it into the top four of the competition. As far as the ball is concerned, Mitchell Santner (3/11 in four overs) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/12 in 3.2 overs) starred for the hosts.
MI will take on Punjab Kings in what will be their final league game of IPL 2025. The game is scheduled on Monday, May 26, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. With the help of external results, MI still have a chance of securing a berth in the top two positions and thereby get a chance to play the first qualifier.
