Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the player that attracted the most attention during the 36th match of the 2025 Indian Premier League between the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants. Suryavanshi was the youngest player to compete in the lucrative league at the age of 14 years and 23 days. Since Sanju Samson had to pull out due to an injury, Suryavanshi was also asked to start the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in such a challenging encounter.

The globe was in awe of the young player’s brilliance as he smacked his first ball for a stunning maximum. He did not let them down.

Even Google CEO Sundar Pichai was perplexed by Suryavanshi’s skill set at such a young age and how he began his IPL career.

Pichai talked on how much of an accomplishment it was to be making his IPL debut at such a young age on the social media site X (previously Twitter).

“Woke up to watch an 8th grader play in the IPL!!!! What a debut!” he shared in the post.

Suryavanshi went on to give the Royals the ideal start to the chase, proving that one six was insufficient. Before being dismissed by off-spinner Aiden Markram, he and Jaiswal batted until the ninth over, creating an incredible 85-run partnership. Suryavanshi smacked three sixes and a handful of boundaries in his 34-run innings off of just 20 balls.

For LSG, Avesh Khan wins a cliffhanger.

Following his dismissal, the Super Giants’ 181-run target began to wear on the hosts as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. The exciting match ultimately came down to the last second, with the visiting team winning by two runs thanks to some outstanding death bowling from Avesh Khan. Due to his outstanding stint with the ball, Avesh was named Player of the Match and finished with statistics of 3/37.

“In the final over, we wanted to take our time and set the pitch correctly. I wanted to win the game for the team because I couldn’t stop thinking about them. During the post-match presentation, the pacer stated, “I just want to do it for the team because it’s a long tournament.”
