Sri Lanka players go up in ICC Women’s ODI Rankings after win over India

Since her team defeated India in the Sri Lanka Women’s ODI Tri-Series, Harshitha Samarawickrama has moved up nine spots to enter the top 20 of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings for the first time.

Her side won back-to-back games owing to her 53 against India and 77 against South Africa, which enabled her reach a personal high 18th place with 583 rating points. Her partner Nilakshika Silva’s outstanding 33-ball 56 helped them defeat India, giving them only their third ODI victory over them. It was also their second-highest successful run-chase, reaching 278/7 for with four balls remaining. Silva also moved up 18 spots to a career-high 25th place with 546 rating points as a result of this.

Other rising Sri Lankan batsmen include Hasini Perera, who vaulted eight spots to share 64th position among the batters, and Kavisha Dilhari, who rose three spots to 47th and advanced one spot to joint 17th in the all-rounders list.

Tazmin Brits of South Africa scored a century in the second game of the Tri-Series against India, lifting her up 12 spots to 40th among the hitters. Despite hitting 109 from 107 balls to increase her rating to 518, South Africa ultimately lost the match by 15 runs.

Richa Ghosh and Pratika Rawal of India moved up three and five spots, respectively, to take 41st and 42nd position on the list of batters.

Nadine de Klerk of South Africa gained three ranks to 25th in the bowlers’ list with 490 rating points. Nonkululeko Mlaba, a teammate, moved two spaces to joint 44th in the all-rounders list and rose six spots to 28th with 466 points.

With 464 points, Sri Lanka’s skipper Chamari Athapaththu moved up 14 spots to 29th place and up one spot to seventh in the all-rounders list.

Her countrywoman Sugandika Kumari shot up 23 spots to a career-high 41st position.

With 420 points and three for 31, five for 43, and three for 45 in her first three Tri-Series games, India’s Sneh Rana achieved a career-high 38th position.

In their series against the USA, Zimbabwe’s Modester Mupachikwa jumped 40 spots to share 84th place, while her colleague Beloved Biza jumped one spot to 53rd in the batters’ list with 409 ratings points. American all-rounder Disha Dhingra has risen eight spots to 58th place, while her compatriot Aditiba Chudasama has moved up 11 spots to share 49th place.
