Sri Lanka will host Bangladesh for a three-match One-Day International series next month. The first two games will take place on July 2 and 5 at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. Meanwhile, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele will host the final ODI on July 8.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are currently playing the second Test in a two-match series. The ODIs will begin following the finish of the Test. Sri Lanka has announced a 16-member squad to face Bangladesh in the One-Day Internationals. Charith Asalanka has been selected captain of the side, and hitter Sadeera Samarawickrama has returned to the squad. Samarawickrama played his final ODI for Sri Lanka in November 2024 against New Zealand.
Experienced campaigners Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana are all expected to compete in the 50-over events. All-rounder Milan Rathnayake, who missed the second Test owing to injury, has been added to the ODI team, albeit his participation will be contingent on a fitness exam.
The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was played at the Galle International Stadium. The match resulted in a tie. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is dominating the second test in Colombo. The tourists were bowled out for 247 in the first innings, while the hosts scored 458. The Tigers reached 115/6 at the close of Day 3, trailing by 96 runs.
Back in ODIs, Sri Lanka defeated Australia in a two-match series in February before the Champions Trophy 2025. They will try to continue fighting the Men in Yellow.
