On May 22, the Gujarat Titans (GT) took on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Unfortunately, Akash Singh, a left-arm bowler, was injured while delivering the final over of the powerplay.

He was bowling around the wicket to GT captain Shubman Gill when he delivered a ball that was hit clean down the pitch.

In an attempt to stop the ball, he deflected it with his right hand. The hit appeared to be something coming off his hand, which immediately began to bleed. Although it wasn’t his bowling hand, the injury appeared serious. His hand was promptly bandaged in a huge towel, and he had to leave the pitch. Avesh Khan was sent in to finish the rest of the over.

Earlier, in the first innings, LSG scored a whopping 235 runs in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the innings’ standout, scoring 117 runs off 64 balls, including ten fours and eight sixes. He was strongly assisted by Nicholas Pooran, who hit four fours and five sixes in just 27 deliveries to add 56 runs. GT bowlers Arshad Khan and Sai Kishore each took only one wicket.

Speaking about their IPL 2025 voyage, GT has already won a playoff position and is now leading the points table with 18 points. They will want to win the match against LSG in front of their home crowd to enhance their position and earn an edge in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, LSG had already been eliminated from the tournament, and this match provided a perfect opportunity for them to end their campaign on a positive and high note.
