Shikhar Dhawan, a former Indian cricketer, revealed a personal story about Rohit Sharma in his latest autobiography. The book includes a section in which the southpaw reflects on a time when he discreetly smuggled in his fiancée in a hotel room he shared with Rohit during India A’s tour of Australia in 2006.

Shikhar Dhawan, who acknowledged to meeting the woman after each game, stated that he believed their relationship would last a lifetime.

“She was really gorgeous, and I quickly fell in love again! I told myself, ‘She is the one for me, and I am going to marry her’. I began with a half-century in a practice game, and my tour was going well. After each game, I’d head over to meet Ellen (not her real name), and I quickly began smuggling her into my hotel room, which I shared with Rohit Sharma.

In his memoirs, Shikhar Dhawan mentioned that he would occasionally whine in Hindi, ‘Will you let me sleep?’.

He also described how his involvement with the woman sparked significant outrage inside the group after a national selector on tour noticed the two together.

“One evening, when I went to supper with Ellen, word of her presence spread like wildfire around the squad. A senior national selector who was on tour with us noticed us strolling through the lobby with our hands clasped. I didn’t even consider letting go of her hand because I didn’t believe we were committing a crime. There was a high chance that if I had performed consistently during that Australia tour, I would have made it to the senior Indian team, but my performance dipped,” Dhawan remarked.

Dhawan eventually made his Indian debut in 2010. He went on to have an illustrious 12-year international career at the top of the order for the nation. Dhawan has played 34 Tests, 167 One-Day Internationals, and 68 T20Is for India.
