Scott Boland scored the first hat-trick in pink-ball Tests during the final innings of the third match of the recently finished series between the West Indies and Australia. He cleaned up the tail to give Australia a 176-run victory to close up the series. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood bowled the most of the innings, with Boland finishing with 3/2 in two overs, including a maiden.
Scott Boland achieved this remarkable milestone in the 14th over of the West Indies’ winning innings.
His first victim was Justin Greaves (11 off 24), who edged an incoming ball on the fourth stump, leaving Beau Webster to finish the job at second slip. Shamar Joseph and Jomel Warrican were then dismissed for golden ducks, allowing Boland to score the 49th hat-trick in red-ball international history.

Speaking of the game, Australia emerged victorious by 176 runs at Sabina Park in Kingston. They bundled out the hosts for a miserly 27 after setting a target of 204 for the hosts to chase in the fourth innings. Mitchell Starc was the key architect of the collapse. The left-arm pacer, playing in his 100th Test, ended up with figures of 6/9 in 7.3 overs. He also went past the 400-wicket tally with this sensational spell of bowling in Jamaica.
Starc struck with three wickets in the very first over to set the tone for the Pat Cummins-led unit. He also etched his name into the record books for bagging the quickest five-wicket haul in the history of Test cricket (15 balls OR 2.3 overs). Josh Hazlewood picked up a wicket as well. It was a truly commanding display by the Aussies, who ended up whitewashing the Roston Chase-led side to launch their 2025-27 WTC on a triumphant note.
