In the 47th match of the IPL 2025 season, the hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by eight wickets in a high-scoring thriller at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, preserving their hopes of making the playoffs. On an excellent batting surface, RR captain Riyan Parag chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

The Gujarat Titans amassed a formidable 209/4 in their 20 overs, driven by captain Shubman Gill’s outstanding 84 off 50 balls and Jos Buttler’s scorching undefeated 50 off just 26 deliveries. Sai Sudharsan contributed a consistent score of 39. The most impressive bowler for RR was Maheesh Theekshana, who took two crucial wickets, namely Gill and Sudharsan.

The Rajasthan Royals responded by launching a batting assault. By hitting an incredible century off just 35 balls, 14-year-old phenom Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history and became the youngest player to ever register a T20 and IPL century at the age of 14 years and 32 days. Against a defenceless Gujarat bowling attack, he displayed courageous strokeplay with a stunning 101-run haul that included 13 fours and 7 sixes.

With a stylish 70* off 40 deliveries, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who stayed undefeated, provided strong backing for Suryavanshi’s assault. Following the fast losses of Nitish Rana (4 off 2) and Suryavanshi, captain Riyan Parag made sure there were no snags by leading RR home with a scorching undefeated 32*. Rajasthan greatly increased their Net Run Rate by chasing down the target in just 15.5 overs, finishing at 212/2.
