At the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday, May 19, during the match between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Digvesh Rathi and Abhishek Sharma got into a verbal altercation after the leg-spinner removed the opening batsman and displayed his signature notebook celebration.

Abhishek was essential to SRH’s success as they chased a 206-run target. When he put the LSG bowlers to the cleaners, the Punjabi cricketer accomplished just that. During the run-chase, Abhishek hit Ravi Bishnoi for four straight sixes in the seventh over. In the next over, the former attempted to take Rathi out but gave way to Shardul Thakur in the direction of deep cover.

Abhishek scored an incredible 59 runs in just 20 deliveries.

Rathi gave him a savage farewell as he was heading back to the dugout. A furious argument broke out between the two cricket players before the umpires stepped in.

After SRH won the match by six wickets in 18.2 overs, and the customary handshakes began, Abhishek could be seen having a lengthy discussion with LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya. Shortly afterwards, Abhishek and Rathi could be seen exchanging a few more words before Dahiya asked the former to move on.

Later on, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla was seen trying to play a peacemaker between the two youngsters, and the visuals of that exchange started going viral on social media. Abhishek admitted that things are now ‘good’ with Rathi after their post-match conversation.

“I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now,” Abhishek stated following the exciting match. He continued by outlining his strategy for Monday’s batting match.

“We had a clear plan while chasing such a score, but I might have had different ideas if we had batted first. You should be able to win the powerplay if you ask any player who has been performing well for the club and is chasing 200 or more. I wanted to express myself, and if I succeed, I’m confident the team will succeed too,” he continued.

LSG were eliminated after going down to SRH on Monday. Abhishek fittingly won the Player of the Match award for his blitzkrieg at the top.
