Kolkata Knights’ chances of making the playoffs are slim going into their final IPL 2025 home game. Chennai Super Kings will be the opponent of KKR, who are currently out of the tournament.

Despite having thrilling humdingers in their most recent games, both clubs ended up with different outcomes. In Kolkata, KKR played the Rajasthan Royals in their most recent game. It wasn’t until Andre Russell came on that KKR’s choice to bat first produced any spectacular results. After a sluggish start to his innings, Russell finally found his rhythm like never before. KKR managed to reach a total of more over 200 with to his explosion, which at one moment seemed impossible even with Russell at the crease.

Vaibhav Arora rallied for three runs off the penultimate ball to give KKR a one-run victory, but Shubham Dubey was unable to get beyond the last hurdle.

With many twists and turns, CSK’s last match was played in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s den. There was a gap when Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell were let go because Matheesha Pathirana was blazing. It took the final two overs for RCB to turn their innings around. Romario Shepherd achieved the second-fastest fifty-run total in IPL history with 33 runs off the penultimate over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed and off the final ball of the innings.

Ayush Mhatre, 17, proved up to the challenge, forming a crucial alliance with Ravindra Jadeja, even if CSK’s pursuit did not start off well. Before Mhatre was removed for 94 by Lungi Ngidi, the two were bringing CSK closer to victory brick by brick. The RCB got in when Ngidi got Dewald Brevis off the next ball under questionable circumstances. Eventually, after much back and forth, Yash Dayal was given the responsibility of defending 15 off the final over. Although Dayal gave up just two runs off the opening three deliveries and got rid of MS Dhoni, the fourth delivery was disastrous.

In the final three balls, when CSK needed 13 runs, Shivam Dube sent a beamer into the stands. After defending six runs off three balls and a free hit, Dayal had to bowl RCB to a two-run victory once more.

CSK have lost four straight games to RCB. In the IPL 2025, CSK has already sustained five straight losses; the fifth of those losses occurred in the rematch in Chennai. With a thorough display, KKR’s bowlers stopped the flow of runs and claimed wickets, reducing CSK to their lowest-ever IPL home total of 103/9 from 20 overs. It was chased down by KKR in half the overs, with Sunil Narine adding 44 runs to his 3 wickets.

Even a defeat may mean the end for KKR, so they will be aiming to salvage two more points from their final home game.
