Jemimah Rodrigues, an Indian batting star, has been retained by the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Draft, joining a list of 23 international players selected by the eight franchises in Melbourne on Thursday.

Rodrigues, a fan favourite in Brisbane, will rejoin the Heat with fellow overseas players Chinelle Henry and Nadine de Klerk, bolstering the team’s batting and all-round options for WBBL|10.

The draft also saw Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu and South African speedster Shabnim Ismail join Sydney Thunder, along with England’s Heather Knight, to form a strong international combination.

The Sydney Sixers have strengthened their team with the additions of England’s Sophia Dunkley and Mady Villiers, as well as New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr.

Adelaide Strikers signed English players Sophie Ecclestone and Tammy Beaumont, as well as South African great Laura Wolvaardt.

The Melbourne Stars bolstered their core by adding England wicketkeeper Amy Jones, South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, and emerging English prospect Dani Gibson.

The Perth Scorchers added firepower in Sophie Devine of New Zealand, Paige Scholfield of England, and Chloe Tryon of South Africa.

The Hobart Hurricanes chose experience and adaptability, signing England trio Danni Wyatt, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and Linsey Smith.

The Melbourne Renegades, meanwhile, selected West Indian power hitter Deandra Dottin and dynamic English all-rounder Alice Capsey.
