Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the verge of achieving a historic milestone: he could become the fastest Indian to reach 2000 runs in Test cricket. The record is presently shared by former Indian greats Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag. Dravid and Sehwag both completed 40 innings to attain the milestone.
Jaiswal, who is currently representing India in the ongoing five-match Test series against England, has a good chance of doing it in 39 innings. His 39th innings will be the first for India in the forthcoming match.
Fastest Indian cricketers to 2000 Test runs:

Vijay Hazare | West Indies | Port of Spain | 1953 | 43 |

The left-handed batsman has the opportunity to set a new record in the second Test of the series, which will be contested at Edgbaston, where India has lost seven of the eight Tests played thus far. The conditions are likely to be more bowling-friendly than usual, which will present a test to Jaiswal & Co.
Jaiswal’s series opener was mixed. He was one of three centurions for his team in their first innings at Headingley.
However, he was dismissed for four in India’s second innings when Brydon Carse’s short of a fair length delivery nibbled away and took his outside edge through to the keeper.
The Shubman Gill-led side ended up losing the game by five wickets as England chased down 371 with relative ease. Jaiswal, however, had an outing to forget in the field. He dropped as many as four catches across the match to drop the joint-most number of opportunities by an Indian cricketer in a Test match.
