When great batsman Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 36, it was one of the biggest shocks to the cricket world. Several well-known personalities have responded to the legend putting up his boots in addition to cricket fans and commentators.
It is well known that Kohli’s fervour is not exclusive to India and that his fan base is international. The well-known American YouTube phenomenon Ishowspeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., has also responded to Kohli’s decision to abandon the red-ball format.
Speed, who is a well-known admirer of the 36-year-old, expressed amazement and disappointment at the Delhi batter’s decision to retire from Test cricket after only a few months of winning an ICC trophy (Champions Trophy 2025).
“Virat Kohli has left. Man, I have no idea what’s going on, Chat. All the legends are retiring, bro, which is sad. They just won the ICC competition, so there’s no chance he simply retired. If they had recently won an ICC, why would he retire? “This must be fake, as he’s only 36,” Speed stated on his YouTube account.

Virat Kohli will return to RCB duty.
As the IPL 2025 resumes after a one-week delay due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, Kohli will return to action even though he will no longer be wearing the whites for India.
With Kohli back in action, the tournament will resume with a match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Having amassed 505 runs at an average of 63.13 in 11 games thus far this season, the right-hander is among the best scorers. Interestingly, Kohli has now reached the 500-run milestone eight times in a single edition, which is more than any other hitter in league history.
