At the ACA-VDCA Stadium on Monday, March 24, in Match 4 of the 2025 Indian Premier League between the Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants, Sameer Rizvi was dismissed due to a brilliant catch by Rishabh Pant.

Manimaran Siddharth was able to give Pant, the former DC captain, a slight advantage with only a little turn and bounce. In response, LSG captain Pant pouched a safe take with the gloves. Siddharth’s maiden wicket in his second season with LSG came from Rizvi. Pant’s dismissal was his 99th IPL dismissal.

Pant’s former franchise ended up losing one more wicket inside their powerplay. Despite that, they ended up scoring 58 during their pursuit of 210 for victory. Shardul Thakur struck twice in the opening over of the second innings to get rid of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel for 1 and 0, respectively.

Rishabh Pant fails to fire on LSG debut

Earlier in the evening, Pant endured a tough outing in the first innings. He was dismissed for a six-ball duck, holing out to DC’s vice-captain Faf du Plessis at long-off. It was his fifth duck in the history of the IPL. Meanwhile, DC ended up scoring 209/8 at the end of their 20-over quota.

A couple of power-packed 70s from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran motored DC’s innings in Visakhapatnam. Kuldeep Yadav ended up as the most economical bowler for the DC outfit, conceding only 20 runs in his four overs while securing a couple of wickets. DC’s skipper Axar Patel was quite miserly too.
