On May 25, Sunrisers Hyderabad star opening batsman Abhishek Sharma scored 32 runs off 16 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The 24-year-old batter reached a milestone in the innin by hitting his 100th six in the league.
Abhishek’s cameo included four boundaries and two sixes, bringing his IPL total to 100 sixes. The Amritsar native reached the achievement in his 75th innings, becoming the 41st player to reach the milestone.
The 2017 U-19 World Cup winner has also struck the most sixes by an SRH hitter this season, ranking fifth overall behind Nicholas Pooran (40 sixes), Mitchel Marsh (32 sixes), Suryakumar Yadav (30 sixes), and Shreyas Iyer (29 sixes). The 2024 IPL finalist did not have a remarkable season, but individual performances stood out as highlights.
Abhishek Sharma’s IPL 2025 Performance
In terms of Abhishek’s performance this season, he finished with 439 runs in 14 matches at an average of 33.76 and an amazing strike rate of 193.39, with two half centuries and one century. He scored his century against the Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Abhishek hit 141 from 55 deliveries, the third-highest individual score in tournament history, after only Chris Gayle’s 175 (2013) and Brendon McCullum’s 158 (2008).
It is safe to conclude that the southpaw had another great season, despite Sunrisers Hyderabad’s failure to ignite as a club. They ended the season on a good note, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by a huge 110 runs to finish with six wins, seven losses, and a no result. They are currently in sixth place, but that might change if Lucknow Super Giants (12 points) upset Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final game of the season.
