To generate excitement before the match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has created a promotional video showcasing elite cricket players and formally confirmed the prize money for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 Final.
India finished their campaign in third place despite having a solid performance throughout the cycle and missing out on the final. The squad amassed 114 points with a 50.00 percentage point total after playing 19 Test matches and won nine of them.
The USD 1,444,000 prize money, or around INR 12.30 crore, will go to India.
Compared to the last two WTC cycles, the ICC has roughly doubled the payout to winners and expanded the prize pool this year.
Australia, the reigning champions, will play South Africa in the final, which will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground from June 11 to June 15.
The winner of WTC 2023–25 will get USD 3,600,000 (approximately INR 30.75 crore), and the runner-up will get USD 2,100,000 (approximately INR 18.46 crore). This is a huge rise over the previous rounds, where the losing finalists received USD 800,000 and the winners, Australia (2023) and New Zealand (2021), received USD 1.6 million each.
In addition to wishing the finals well, ICC Chair Jay Shah praised the excellent cricket played throughout the WTC cycle. He admitted that the competition has provided a stage for outstanding performances by players from different international teams.
“The ICC World Test Championship’s third cycle was quite intriguing, with the finals being determined only near the end of the campaign. A genuine celebration of cricket, the championship has featured outstanding performances from players from many teams, culminating in a final between these two outstanding sides,” Shah remarked.
