Dewald Brevis, who joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 2.20 crore to replace the injured Gurjapneet Singh, has been one of the team’s finest players. In the most recent match between CSK and the Kolkata Knight Riders, played at the Eden Gardens on May 7, the South African youth hammered a rapid half-century. A four-match losing streak was ended by the five-time winners thanks to this knock.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was halted for a week on Friday, May 9, in response to the friction across the border between India and Pakistan. During the break, Brevis and other foreign players went home. On Saturday, May 17, the 18th edition of the lucrative league will resume. Some international players may not be able to play in the final games, according to sources, but Brevis is not one of them.

The Johannesburg native confirmed his return to participate in CSK’s final two games against the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals on his official Instagram account.

The caption “See you soon India” was posted by Dewald Brevis on his Instagram story beside a photo of a CSK huddle.

CSK was the first team eliminated in this tournament, and they are currently experiencing one of their worst league seasons. They have only managed three victories and fallen to nine losses in 12 games, leaving them sagging at the bottom of the standings.

One of the Men in Yellow’s occasional bright spots has been Brevis’ performance. The gifted batsman has amassed 126 runs with a strike rate of 163.64 and an average of 31.50 in four games. He will try to help CSK avoid finishing at the bottom of the points table by maintaining his strong run of play in the previous two games.
