During an Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, April 5, in Chennai, Vansh Bedi, a teenage player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was observed dozing off in the dugout. The 21-year-old batsman-wicketkeeper was seen lounging next to Ravindra Jadeja as Chennai appeared to be having trouble chasing runs.

When the incident happened, CSK had already lost three wickets during the powerplay overs.

Chennai lost by 25 runs and was never able to recover, even though MS Dhoni entered the game as early as the eleventh over. Bedi, who was purchased at auction for INR 55 lakh and has not yet made his debut, inadvertently caught people’s attention by dozing off during a pivotal moment in the game.

Bedi is from Delhi, and his accomplishments in local levels led to scouting. He has only participated in one Twenty20 match for Delhi thus far, against Arunachal Pradesh at the BKC stadium in Mumbai.
